OUR APPROACH

There is more that goes into creating a website than most people realize.   The diagram at right illustrates the elements that must be addressed to build a comprehensive website that incorporates all of the functionality necessary to accomplish the desired business objectives.

An overview of each building block in the pyramid is provided below.   When we begin a project, we cover this entire process in detail with our client.

We then create a Project Worksheet to ensure that every task is defined and completed. This document has proven to be an excellent communication vehicle for business managers. It presents scope, items of responsibility, and progress in an easy to follow format. It also guarantees that nothing is missed and that the project meets all specifications.

Remember, our entire process is focused on ending the headaches of developing and maintaining your website.

Effectively handling each of these components is essential.

The Website Engine
The foundation of the pyramid is a website structure that incorporates all of the programmed capabilities that will be needed.  For anyone to build a comprehensive site from scratch is a very time-consuming and costly project requiring substantial technical knowledge.

There is a better way.  Our approach is to select required functions from an extensive library of applications that have already been written and intgrate them into a customized site for each client.  These applications are free of software bugs, can be implemented quickly, and are reasonably priced.

For more information on the capabilities we offer, check the section on Our Resources

Site Hosting
A robust hosting environment provides more than a place for the site to reside on a server.

It also includes the support for text and image databases used within the content, for email services, for payment systems (if required), for reporting of traffic statistics.

And it provides the non-technical tools that enable our clients to perform their own content maintenance as desired.

Graphic Design
This element provides the overall look and feel of a site. It includes the branding, the navigation functions, and the footer for the site.  Often "less is more" in this design because it allows the content to stand out; however, these graphics can be as elaborate as the client desires.

It is important to understand that creating  the graphical template is really a separate element of the project that can be incorporated at any time and does not delay development of content.

Site Content
This is the heart of the site.   It is the message. It is the value offered to the visitor.  Developing it is no simple task. It takes a lot of thought and planning to create a meaningful visitor experience.  It must be aethetically pleasing, intellectually engaging, memorable, and effective at illiciting the desired response.  Most importantly, it must anticipate and address specific needs of the visitor.

Training and Site Management
Better known as Support, this is the last element usually addressed in the development of a site and it can be a huge headache. The worst scenario is to have a site that the client can't manage and a website developer who is not responsive.  Our clients never experience that situation.
